Where we come from

Founded in 1930 as the second fire district in the Town of Glenville. The Alplaus Fire Department proudly serves the residents of Glenville Fire District # 2. The department meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM and we are always looking for new members, even if you have no prior experience as a first responder.

Our Members

The Alplaus Fire Department is comprised of roughly 25 volunteers, who respond from their home or place of business at a moments notice. Some are trained as Emergency Medical Technicians or Certified First Responders and offer medical aid to those in the community. Others are drivers who specialize in safely and quickly driving the vehicles and then operating them once arriving on scene. Our members are also trained in the extinguishment and control of brush, car, rubbish, and structure fires. Do you think you have what it takes to work with them?

We're always looking for new members who want to get involved in their community and help out their neighbors. The department meets on the first Tuesday of every month, at 7:00 PM, except for the November monthly meeting, which is held on the first Monday.

Did you know?

Author Kurt Vonnegut was once a member of the Alplaus Fire Department. In 2007, he sent a silk print in honor of the department and firefighters everywhere. It is now located in our community/meeting room.

Our Station

The Alplaus Fire Department operates out of one station, divided into two buildings an operational and an administrative, located at 309 Alplaus Avenue. The new building houses all of the trucks, equipment, and gear needed by our volunteers to put out a fire or help during a medical emergency, with the old building having a day room, community area, conference room, and kitchen. (Visit our Station Tour to see for yourself). If there is a call when the firefighters are at their homes, they come here to get on the truck and go help out whoever is in need in our community. With a fleet of 7 vehicles, there is always a seat ready for those who want to lend a hand. If you'd like a seat saved for you, visit the Contact page to request more info.
