The Explorer post allows young adults the opportunity to train with the fire department. It is sponsored by the Boy Scout's Learn for Life Program. The members do not respond to calls, but train in a similar fashion to the adult members. They are supervised by trained professionals and taught the basics of the fire service. The next generation of Alplaus firefighters is found in the Explorer post. The post meets on the first Tuesday of each month and drills with post members once a week. Anyone age 14 and up that is attending an area high school is welcome to submit an application.
